Come enjoy a unique and creative way to see how God has and is working in your story! Using Kintsugi, a 400 yr old Japanese art form that repurposes broken pottery pieces into beautiful masterpieces, Liz Blancke will guide us in reflecting on our own stories as we mend broken tiles into beauty. You do not need to be an artist or even like art! This is an experience of using a different way to look at God's redeeming work in our lives, the finished product being a piece that will remind us that God is always about taking the broken pieces of our stories and creating a masterpiece.
Facilitator: Liz Blancke
Liz Blancke has been drawn to the arts from a young age. She spent her first five years in Japan and most of her childhood in Indiana. Trips to museums, concerts, and stage productions all inspired her propensity toward creativity. This early exposure to beauty and culture helped stabilize much brokenness in her home life.
Liz and her husband Bill have lived in five states. She has traveled widely and holds degrees in Sociology and Counseling. Most recently, Liz was certified (Academy Kintsugi) in a modern, simplified version of Kintsugi, a Japanese art form of taking broken vessels and creating something new. The “new creation” symbolism echoes God’s work bringing beauty from brokenness, reflecting Liz’s personal transformation through brokenness, difficult transitions, and ministry hurts. Liz facilitates Kintsugi experiences where attendees process life through this art form.
Liz has been married to Bill for 36 years. They adoringly share two sons and three grandchildren.
